John Warren

John graduated from The University of the South, Sewanee, with a degree in English Literature and later earned his MBA from the University of South Carolina’s Darla Moore School of Business.
His professional background includes both wealth management and international operations. John spent several years with Tidewater Inc. in management roles across Venezuela, Cameroon, and Angola before transitioning into financial services. He later served as a Financial Advisor with Morgan Stanley Smith Barney before joining Baird, where he continues to provide guidance to clients locally.
An avid sailor, John had the opportunity to sail around the world as a participant in the Expo ’98 Round the World Rally, an experience he considers one of his most rewarding accomplishments.
A native of Charleston, he resides in West Ashley with his wife, Caroline, and their children, Dalton and Hall.
Thomas Smythe

Thomas, a native of Charleston, is a financial advisor focused on helping families and business owners make thoughtful, long-term financial decisions. Thomas graduated from the University of the South, Sewanee, with a B.A. in History while competing on the men's soccer team.
Prior to joining Baird, Thomas spent 13 years at MassMutual where he developed a strong foundation in financial planning and risk management. Thomas has continued to build on that experience by earning his CFP®, CLU®, and ChFC® designations, enabling him to provide comprehensive, personalized advice tailored to each client’s unique goals and priorities.
Outside of the office, Thomas enjoys hunting, fishing, golfing, playing basketball, and farming. Thomas and his wife live in Mount Pleasant with their two children, Buist and Rowe, and he cherishes the time he gets to spend with his family.
Matthew Stanhope

Matt Stanhope is a Certified Financial Planner® professional who has been helping individuals and families navigate financial decisions since 2016. He works closely with clients to develop personalized wealth management strategies, offering guidance in investment management, retirement planning, tax planning considerations, and trust and estate planning.
Originally from the Atlanta area, Matt earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Mississippi with dual majors in Banking & Finance and Managerial Finance. He joined Baird in 2023 after relocating from New York City with his wife, Charlotte. Matt holds the FINRA Series 7 and 66 licenses.
As a member of Baird's Charleston Private Wealth Management team, Matt assists clients with comprehensive financial planning, tax reviews, and guiding clients through estate and legacy planning considerations. He is passionate about helping clients simplify complex financial decisions and gain confidence in pursuing their long-term goals.
Outside of work, Matt enjoys golf, tennis, and travel. He lives in Mount Pleasant with his wife and their two children, Margot and Russell.
Clark Samisch

Clark grew up in Charleston, Tampa, and Hawaii, experiences that provided him with a broad perspective and a strong appreciation for connecting with people from all walks of life. Today, he is based in Charleston, where he focuses on building meaningful relationships and helping clients navigate important financial decisions with clarity and confidence.
He graduated from the University of South Carolina and began his career developing a strong foundation in client service and financial guidance. Prior to joining Baird in 2025, Clark worked with individuals and families at Wells Fargo Advisors and South Carolina Federal Credit Union, gaining valuable experience across both wealth management and banking environments.
Clark holds multiple industry licenses, including the Series 7, 6, 63, and 65, and is also a licensed insurance producer in South Carolina. These credentials allow him to provide thoughtful, well-rounded guidance tailored to each client’s goals.
Outside of work, Clark enjoys golfing, spending time on the water, and being with friends and family.
